Dedicated to keeping the main thing the main thing!

I was shocked to read the article sent to me some time ago of the musings of an
aged retired Baptist preacher who entitled his opinion: “The End of an Empire!”

In this article he wrote that he believed that America’s
days are nearly over. He believes that soon this once
great nation will become Balkanized and divided into
small countries within the states and essentially it will
be everyone for him/herself.  I don’t know if I agree
with that opinion, but I began to wonder as I am sure
you have, and countless other Americans; “How did we
get into this mess?   Well if you are a Democrat, it is the
Republicans fault. If you are a Republican, it is of
course the Democrats who have caused this. If you are
a Libertarian, it is the government’s fault, no matter
what party is in leadership.

Rescuce The Pershing!
    In this edition of Friday Focus I want to share a
    true story with you that you may have already
    heard, but it is important to think about what it
    means for today:

    John Harper was born to a pair of solid
    Christian parents on May 29th, 1872. It was on
    the last Sunday of March 1886, when he was
    thirteen years of age that he received Jesus as
    the Lord of his life. He never knew what it was
    to "sow his wild oats."

He began to preach about four years later at the ripe old ago of 17 years by going
down to the streets of his village and pouring out his soul in earnest entreaty for
men to be reconciled to God.

Looking to Jesus.

Matthew 14:30 - But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid;
and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

This Friday’s Focus is rather short, but hopefully, right to the point.

    Peter saw Jesus coming towards them on the water-He
    was amazed at the power of God clearly evident in the
    life of Jesus. He asked that Jesus command him to
    come out on the water with him. We read that Jesus
    commanded Peter to come out of the ship and to walk
    on the water with him!  Peter I am sure was completely
    overwhelmed with excitement! He was walking on the
    water! This couldn’t be happening, and yet here he was!
    I am sure he looked back at the boat towards the other
    disciples with a big silly grin on his face!

Yet, he also saw something else. He saw the waves, and felt the power of the
wind. He saw the stormy sea, and he panicked! He began to sink because He took
his eyes off of the Lord!

NO MATTER WHAT FAITH!

NO ONE CAN DENY THAT WE ARE LIVING IN TROUBLED AND UNCERTAIN TIMES!   

We seem daily to be reminded that we are living in:
  • Uncertain economic times
  • Uncertain political times
  • Uncertain health care solutions
  • Uncertain world conditions

Increase in sicknesses and disease, earthquakes,
threats from world leaders,commitments that
our nation has always made and had with Israel, seem to be uncertain now…..  
What should we do?

CONTINUE
    Over the years I have had the privilege of dealing with
    many people and with many people’s problems. I say it
    is a privilege because I get to share with all of them
    what I know to be the only solution for their problems,
    no matter what they are. And that answer is Jesus
    Christ.

    I have noticed, over the years, that there are some
    individuals who, no matter what may happen to them,
    they stay right in there. They remain faithful and they
    do not give up. They keep going, they keep trusting,
    and they keep smiling and rejoicing in God!

The Choice That Counts

    In our lives we are faced with many choices: what to  
    wear, what to eat; where to work, go to school, attend
    church, etc. Some of the choices like these mentioned
    are important, but not necessarily critical. There are
    choices that we make which are critical; who to marry,
    how to raise children, but they are not as critical as the
    choices which effect our eternity.

    am in England and in need of funds...it was an attempt to
    deceive you!  I am not in England, have never been, and I
    am not in need of funds, (wait, let me think that one over)

Praying For Our Leaders

    Making the rounds on the Internet lately is something about
    praying for our president, and then referring people to Psalm
    109:8 "LET HIS DAYS BE FEW; AND ANOTHER TAKE HIS OFFICE."
      This finds its fulfillment in Acts 1:20 in appointing a
    replacement for Judas who had betrayed the Lord for 30 pieces
    of silver.  This has nothing to do with praying Barack Obama out
    of office! It is simply another finding of a scripture to back up
    ones political viewpoint!
