Praying For Our Leaders

Making the rounds on the Internet lately is something
about praying for our president, and then referring
people to Psalm 109:8 "LET HIS DAYS BE FEW; AND
ANOTHER TAKE HIS OFFICE."  This finds its fulfillment
in Acts 1:20 in appointing a replacement for Judas
who had betrayed the Lord for 30 pieces of silver.
This has nothing to do with praying Barack Obama
out of office! It is simply another finding of a
scripture to back up ones political viewpoint!

The reason the Church is so weak today is because of this low regard for,
and loose application of God's Holy Word!

Another passage of scripture that I seldom hear today in relation to our
president is 1Timothy 2:1-4:

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;  2 For kings,
and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable
life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the
sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to
come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Remember, that the apostle Paul was writing to young Pastor Timothy to
instruct him in how to lead the church under his care under the rule of
the wicked Roman Empire!  Paul, nor any of the apostles, much less the
Lord Jesus, ever uttered a single word against the rulers over them. To
the contrary, they sought to reach them with the Gospel!

Now, I know that some of you are already gritting your teach, searching
your minds for justification and rationalizations for doing the opposite,
but you have no scriptural grounds!

We are to pray for our leaders and we are to submit to them unless, they
order us to compromise our service and obedience to God. If this occurs,
we must be like Peter and John in Acts 4 when they were ordered never
to preach about Jesus again replied:

"Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than
unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have
seen and heard."
 (Acts 4:19-20)

We must always put the will and command of God above any laws of
man, and be ready to take the consequences for doing so!

But, getting back to the subject at hand, are you praying for our leaders?
Are you praying for our President? Are you praying that he will be saved?
Are you giving thanks for him? (see verse 1)

Do you want to live a quiet peaceable life in all godliness and honesty?
Then PRAY FOR OUR LEADERS!

This does not mean you can't vote them out, but while they are in office
do not speak against them-pray for them! Read the passage in Psalm 109
carefully; Has our President even approached the heinousness of Judas?
Is this what you really want to happen to the president, and his family?
If so, then I would urge you to examine your heart to see what spirit you
are of!

I am alarmed as you are at what I see happening in our nation and
around our world. However, I believe that we are in this shape greatly
due to the abandonment of obedience to the Word of God by Gods own
people!  O why don't we pray!?    God will honor His Word! He will hear,
and who can tell what God will do?
