The Deceiver

Today's Focus has to do with being deceived!
If you recently received and email from me
telling you that I am in England and in need of
funds...it was an attempt to deceive you!  I am
not in England, have never been, and I am not
in need of funds, (wait, let me think that one
    over) No, I am OK!

How did this happen? I was deceived! I fell for an email scam telling me
my account was about to be closed unless I gave some information
verifying my account. I know, pretty dumb....I should know better!

The Bible tells us that there is a Deceiver.....his name is Satan.  In
1Peter 5:8 we read of our enemy these words:
"Be sober, be vigilant;
because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about,
seeking whom he may devour."

He hates you if you are a believer in Jesus! He hates the Lord Jesus!  He
wants to deceive us by telling lies, spreading falsehoods, and trying to
discourage us from doing what we are commanded to do!  Our nation is
facing tough times. We have many out of work, and many struggling to
make ends meet. The enemy would have us believe that we must
compromise in some way our godly standards in order to make it, but
our God has promised to meet all of our needs! (Phil. 4:19; Matt.6:33)

There are many rumors concerning the Obama administration; from
bankrupting the US, and turning us into a socialist country, to rounding
up all the Christians and putting us all into secret concentration camps!
So the Deceiver blinds us to our true calling to proclaim the Gospel into
thinking that we must fight spiritual battles with fleshly means; i.e.
Political strategies. Now, all of these things may be true; we may indeed
be headed for all of this, and even worse things....yet, our Focus is to be
the same! Our eyes are to be on our King, who will not fail to prevail
over the enemy!

Often this deceiver reminds us of our own failures to live faithfully for
Christ. We as humans will fail, and we will sin, but this is no reason to
give up the fight!  The Bible tells us in 1 John 2:1-2

1  My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if
any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the
righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also
for the sins of the whole world.

No matter what we have done, or how we have failed-we have an
Advocate; Jesus Christ the Righteous!
He is the "one Mediator" between us and God! There is no other, nor do
we need one! He stands daily to plead our case with the Father. His
blood is the only covering we need for sin which makes us righteous
continually before God, no matter what the Deceiver may try to tell us
otherwise! Hallelujah!

The purpose of the Focus each week is to take our attention off of the
world, and our own ideologies, for a short time, and focus them upon
The Lord Jesus!

We cannot be deceived if we are watching Him, and Listening to His
voice! I encourage you to stay close to Him!  Go to church this weekend
prepared to worship and honor Him! He alone is worthy of all praise!
